Amilla Maldives provides an experience that is all-encompassing in terms of relaxation through their pillars of wellness: Movement, Spirituality and Spa - Javvu Spa reflects this perfectly. This serene haven where soothing treatments and your entire being is at its prime, has created a tranquil environment where you can get a massage, meditate or exercise with 5 star products and treatments that help cleanse, soothe and revive. One of the most recent changes that were brought to Javvu emerges a sense of home through ‘Dhivehi Beys’ spa treatments which are inspired from traditional Maldivian herbal medicine. These secrets of traditional herbal medicine were welcomed by the staff at Amilla from the guidance and assistance of a popular local healer and involves “Thamburu and Mirihi” (Back Detox & Pain Reliever) and “Masgulha Filuva Beys” (Deep Muscle Release) treatments and according to Amilla’s Spa and Wellness Manager Laura Pagano, “it very quickly became one of our best sellers - it was very well received”. These treatments are also made from indigenous Maldivian spices and herbs grown at Amilla’s organic gardens which in turn creates remedies that are deeply restorative, harmonious and healing. Furthermore, more spa treatments include, ‘Hot Stone Therapy’, ‘Pure Massage’ and their most in demand massage treatment, ‘Intuitive Massage’, where skilled therapists scan your body and identify areas in need of care “its very resulting in the end because the guest receives the exact treatment that they need” [Laura Pagano]. The most recent venture into healing also includes the arrival of Specialist Aniket Bhosale to Javvu Spa who is an experienced Yoga teacher and a gold medal winner holding black belts in Hapkido, Taekwondo and Kung Fu and a master in martial arts and is ensured to provide constructive notes that will help revitalise your bodies and mind with his very unique skill set and wisdom-filled wellness offerings.

The distinctiveness in the island’s wellness strategy is jaw-droppingly well thought out and this is increasingly apparent in their Sensora Colour Bath, which uses the most advanced coloured-light systems in the world to help recharge the brain’s electrical field. Laura Pagano explains it best saying, “what makes the sessions so special is that Sensora actually interacts with your nervous systems through lights, music and vibrations that are synchronised in the same frequencies and with these we can control how people feel - we can energise a person, relax them, balance them”, making this an astounding spectacle and a wellness exemplar. Their newest feature to this phenomena ‘Chromotest & Harmonic Colours’, a test done to create your personal chromatic blueprint, is a test that reveals your personality traits and innermost needs and desires through customised sessions that are unique to each individual, and Pagano’s kind voice induced with light chuckles chimed,“it is extremely accurate”. This healing and revitalising form of therapy ensures that your mind, body and soul are always well taken care of at the resort.

Moreover, the island introduced a very fun induced, educational and interactive form of wellness with their introduction of the Alchemy Bar, which gained monumental popularity upon the resort’s reopening after its closure during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. This unconventional approach to wellness, inspired by the knowledge passed down from the local ‘Dhivehi Beys’ healer, Amilla created an interactive lab where visitors are invited to learn the basics of making organic bathroom and beauty products including varieties of soaps, shampoos, lip balm, bathtub teas and organic deodorant and Laura Pagano ensures that “there are so many benefits we can get from this, it is very mindful when you are in the process you’re focused and it’s not the type of focus that brings you stress - it puts you in a fun, focused state of mind and it’s extremely fulfilling to have made your own products”. This is not only educational, it is also inadvertently a form of relaxation and it aligns with the island’s pro-sustainability advocacy as most of the products are sourced from the island itself.

This glamorous and alluring island also introduced an ‘Outdoor Jungle Gym’ in line with one of their wellness pillars: Movement. It is a wondrous gym built out in the wilderness where guests can work out in open air and under the warm, cozy gaze of the sun with hand-made, ‘Flinstonian’ wooden equipment which includes monkey bars, coconut weight machines etc, and “with everything that has happened in the last year the opportunity to be able to work out in the open air, gives everyone a peace of mind” [Laura Pagano]. It is the perfect combination of healthy living and experiencing nature’s finest all at once as built around one of the biggest Banyan trees in the resort - exuding a very invigorating energy.
