FABULOUS Brand-New Resorts That Are Planned to Open in 2023 in The Maldives
Seven brand new resorts are set to open in Maldives in the year 2023. Spread over various atolls, all of these resorts will feature opulent accommodations such as private villas with pools, fine-dining establishments, and exceptional spas.
This year, Six Senses Kanuhura, Avani Fares, JOY Island Maldives and S/O Maldives are some of the most eagerly anticipated resorts. The Maldives will now have over 170 resorts in total, making it one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the world, especially for such a small nation.
- Madifushi Private Island – Opened 17th January 2023 (Meemu Atoll)
Madifushi Private Island was initially slated to open in 2022, and they have finally opened their doors to an influx of eager guests on January 17th, 2023. The scenic private island is situated in Meemu Atoll, a stunning region famous for its whale sharks and manta rays, and thus the resort will be highly concentrated on diving as well.

- Avani Fares Maldives – Opening 1st April 2023 (Baa Atoll)
The launch of Avani Hotels & Resorts' new Maldives resort, Avani Fares Maldives Resort, has once again been set for April 1, 2023. Avani's first resort in the Maldives, which is scheduled to open in 2020, will have 176 studios, beach villas, and overwater villas with house reefs just steps from the beach and an outdoor bar and dining area.

- Amari Raaya Maldives – Opening in May 2023 (Raa Atoll)
The Amari Raaya Maldives resort is scheduled to open in May 2023, but the company has not provided much information about the place aside from the fact that it will contain seven amazing dining options, a premium spa, and a kids’ club. Back in 2022, the resort was scheduled to open then as Amari Kudakurathu Maldives.
The resort was scheduled for opening in 2022 under the name of Amari Kudakurathu Maldives.

- JOY Island – Opening in July 2023 (North Male’ Atoll)
On July 1st 2023, the pristine North Male’ Atoll of the Maldives will play host to JOY Island Maldives, a lavish 5-star destination of the acclaimed Cocoon Collection hotel brand. The resort will feature 150 villas, each with exquisite facilities, with both overwater and beachfront options.
The resort boasts a variety of international dining establishments offering food from all over the world, an oceanside spa, a PADI center, a tennis court, a water sports complex, and a kids' club.

The opening of Six Senses Kanuhura is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023. The resort, which Six Senses acquired in 2021, will have 80 isolated overwater, beachfront, and roomy family villas with both sunrise and sunset views. Also, Six Senses Kanuhura will also be using Jehunuhura and Masleggihura, two of its own sister islands that are entirely desolate; perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The brand-new 5-star eco-luxury resort will provide a romantic atmosphere, covert wining and dining, private beaches, and world-class wellness for a relaxing and rejuvenating stay.

There is no set date for when in 2023 S/O Maldives will be launching. There will be 80 luxurious beachside and watervillas, all with designer décor and daring accents.
The first integrated leisure destination in South Male' Atoll, Crossroads Maldives, is featuring this 5-star luxury resort on its third island that connects it to a wealth of top-notch services and activities from across the world. S/O Maldives will join Accor's group of five resorts in the Maldives, which currently consists of the upscale Raffles and Fairmont brands, the premium Pullman and Movenpick brands, and the midscale Mercure brand.

- Zazz Escapes Maldives – Opening 2023 (No Specific Date) (South Ari Atoll)
Since last year, ZAZZ Escapes Maldives has been slated to open. The reopening of the former Ranveli Island is scheduled for 2023, although no specific date or other details are available. The proposed resort will feature 101 overwater and beach villas in 5 categories and will be an adults-only property. The resort will also have six dining venues and bars, a top-notch spa and wellness program as well as a variety of water sports and activities. If nothing changes, Pulse Hotels & Resorts will run Zazz Maldives (the Maldivian brand behind Kandima, The Nautilus, Niyama Private Islands).
