Exciting news comes from Milaidhoo Island Maldives with their introduction of a joint contemporary art project with globally renowned Russian artist and fashion illustrator, Alena Lavdovskaya. The skillful artist resided on the island during the month of July, creating classic and digital works of art that amalgamates the regality of Maldivian tradition and culture with modern art. 

Born to an artistic family in Tbilisi, Georgia, Lavdovskaya has always found inspiration in art and is a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world. She has designed for world famous brands and fashion houses such as Guerlain, Dior, Chanel, Lancome, Montblanc and Tiffany’s, making her resume one of the most intriguing and impressive on the planet. Having travelled the world, such as when she studied in the USA and Italy, this talented mastermind has been involved in vast arrays of collaborations and workshops worldwide.

Lavdovskaya’s burning passion for creating art from life, adding pinches and perceptions of her style to her creations ensures that her art embodies a distinctive quality that is unlike any other. Thus this collaborative art project is destined to be extraordinarily ethereal in every way possible as this is a unique initiative with local Milaidhoo family members. The project is going to be anchored on illustrating contemporary, island inspired art pieces that represent the richness of the Maldivian heritage to a broader audience. These beautiful forms of artistic expression and cultural acknowledgement will be displayed and auctioned in the later months of 2021 and the proceeds from this project will be donated to marine conservation efforts in the Maldives.
