2022 is shaping up to be a quite exciting year for sports fans in particular, as there’s a highly anticipated lineup of rugby, football and cricket icons from around the world arriving on the shores of Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani in the Maldives. The highly-anticipated iconic lineup includes former FC Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez, football freestyle sensation Marcel Gurk, and World Cup Champion David Villa.

 

David Villa, a world-renowned athlete, will be at Soneva Jani from July 20–31 as part of the forthcoming summer 2022 program. As one of the greatest football attackers ever, Villa is not only a FIFA World Cup champion, but also a UEFA Champions League victor, and the all-time leading scorer for the Spanish National Team. After retiring, he started his own business, the DV7 Group, which provides football camps, clinics, and other educational programs to children all over the world.

 

 

 Soneva Fushi has just signed on  the legend Rafael Marquez, regarded as one of Mexico’s all-time greatest players,  to their summer lineup. In a series of football camps from July 25 to August 8, he will put Young Sonevians through their paces as the current youth coach of Spanish Tercera División team Alcalá. Football freestyling superstar Marcel Gurk will lead daily sessions for the younger visitors of Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani from July 1 through 13, adding to the already high-flying excitement.

 

Starting off the star-studded lineup, Rohit Sharma recently spoke at a one-time Talkers' Table at Soneva Jani about his experiences and leadership skills. Rohit is now the captain of the Indian Men's National Team and the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Rohit is regarded as one of cricket's most exceptional and skilled batsmen.

 

Ben Cohen, an English rugby player who won the world cup, will be assisting guests in staying healthy during his renowned fitness courses at both Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani from October 15–30 in preparation for the October half-term vacation. Soneva Stars regular Mikal Silvestre will be making a welcome return to the Maldives to lead his enduringly popular kids' football camps during the October half-term and December holiday holidays at Soneva Jani after his visit to Soneva Fushi during Easter.

 

 

Later, the former international player from France will return to Soneva Fushi to serve as a pundit for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, this year. Professional footballer Yaya Touré will be joining him in the commentary box, although he will be doing it from Soneva Jani's sandy beaches. He was born in Côte d'Ivoire, and since 2004, he has represented his nation internationally. He is now regarded as one of the most significant players from the African continent.
